About Us

Acorn to Oak provides comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological services for individuals ranging from preschool age through adulthood. Neuropsychological services include the assessment of cognitive functioning and treatment recommendations. Psychological services may include the assessment of emotional health, personality, and aptitude as well as treatment and/or treatment recommendations. We welcome the opportunity to provide you with information about your own, or a loved one’s, cognitive functioning. Our goal is to understand each person’s unique set of strengths and weaknesses and find ways to assist the client in reaching their potential.

Preschool and School Age Children and Adolescents

Children and adolescents are frequently seen at Acorn to Oak for assessment. Testing that is typically provided for children and teens may include intelligence testing (often an entrance requirement for private education), evaluation of ADD/ADHD, evaluation of learning differences, or neuropsychological functioning such as learning style, memory, attention, processing, and coping style. Parents may also have concerns about their child’s emotional well-being and request an assessment for anxiety, depression, coping style, and resiliency.

Adults often present with a variety of concerns related to their cognitive functioning. Middle aged adults and older adults may have concerns about their memory, attention, or executive functioning (planning, organization, self-control). They may worry that they are developing symptoms consistent with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Acorn to Oak offers testing of intelligence, attention, memory, and executive functioning intended to provide a baseline against which to measure future performance in these domains. In this way, Acorn to Oak provides reassurance that cognitive processes are being monitored.

Athletes of all ages are increasingly aware of the need for safety and the consequences of concussions. Acorn to Oak offers assessments of cognitive processes that may be impacted by sports related injuries. We provide testing of processes including attention, processing speed, memory, and executive functioning. Families are turning to neuropsychological assessment as a way to establish the healthy athlete’s current level of cognitive functioning as well as monitoring cognitive functioning following a sports related injury.

Traumatic Brain Injury / Health Related Events

People of all ages may experience changes in cognitive functioning following an accident, such as a car accident or fall, or health related event, such as stroke. Acorn to Oak offers comprehensive neuropsychological assessment designed to identify areas of functioning that may be compromised as well as the degree to which they have been impacted.
